by any of the following methods -

Debit
card over the phone - our office number is 01726 842525

Is
bedlinen included?
The bedlinen is included at the following
properties – Handspan Cottage, Wisteria, Central Cottage, Argel Lowen, The Studio,
Penare, Splash Point,
Alba Studio, Tremara, Goose Cottage, the Coach House, Glebe Cottage
and Sea Thrift. Duvets and pillows are provided at all other properties, with
the bedlinen (duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases) available to hire as an
optional extra, with the exception of Trewollock, where
the duvets and pillows are provided but guests must bring their own duvet
covers, sheets and pillowcases. T-towels are provided at all properties.
What
about bathroom and beach towels?
Sorry, but towels
are not generally not provided at any of the properties. The exceptions are
Alba Studio, Handspan Cottage and Splash Point where bathroom towels (but not
beach towels) are provided.
How do you caculate the
price for short breaks, and can I book just one or 2 nights?
The minimum
stay is 3 nights, which is calculated as 70% of the weekly tariff; a 4 night
stay is 80% of the weekly rate, 5 nights 90% and 6 nights 95%.
Do
any of the cottages allow smoking?
No
- all the cottages are no smoking.
Can
I bring a pet?
You are welcome to bring a pet to Goose Cottage, Coach House,
Invermore, Alba Studio and
Treventon, subject to a small charge (see booking form). We
would remind visitors that pets are not allowed in the bedrooms, or on the
furniture, and must never be left on their own in the property. Pets should
also be cleared up after, both inside (animal hair) and outside the properties. It is
worth remembering that many attractions do not allow pets - Eden has very limited shaded parking, Heligan
does not allow dogs between Easter and November, and a dog ban applies on many beaches during
the summer months.
Where do I park, and is there a charge?
Each property description states if the
cottage has parking, and whether this is on-site, or by permit for the
harbourside cottages. Sunhaven and Yellow Quayside come with permits to cover the parking charge; after unloading, cars
must be parked in the harbour car park which is approx 3-5 mins walk from the
cottages. Visitors staying at Cobbles
and Handspan Cottage will need to park in one of the 4
village car parks, three of which sell a weekly ticket which costs £10 - £30
per week depending on the time of year and the car park. If you are staying
at a village centre cottage without on-site parking you will need to carry your
luggage/shopping to and from the nearest car park - please check with us before
booking if this is likely to be a problem. The short stay car park
allows parking overnight at a reduced rate, ideal if you are likely to be out in your
car a lot during your stay.
What
time can we arrive, and when must we depart?
Generally,
properties are available from 3pm. If a property has a different arrival
time, you will be informed when your booking is confirmed. We realise that
during the busy holiday times people often travel early in the morning to avoid
traffic; we are however unable to allow access to holiday properties any
earlier than stated, as it is impossible to fully clean and prepare a property
in less time. Likewise, we ask all visitors to vacate the properties by 10am on
the morning of departure. .
Where
do we collect the keys from?
Full details of where to collect the key,
and directions to the property, will be sent approximately 2 weeks before the
start of your holiday.
Can
we all squeeze into the cottage? The kids don’t mind sleeping on the floor!
All properties clearly state a maximum occupancy,
and this includes children over the age of 12 months. Babies under 12 months do
not count towards occupancy, but must be included on the booking form. A few of
the one bedroom cottages do not allow any children, usually for safety reasons.
If you are found to exceed the maximum occupancy of a property, we reserve the
right to terminate your booking and ask
you to vacate the property. No refund of the remaining rental will be made.
What
is the mobile coverage like?
Orange, Virgin,
O2 and Vodafone work well in Mevagissey, but mobile phone coverage in Gorran
Haven is patchy, although good on the beach!. Other networks are not very reliable
in Cornwall.
What
do we do if we have a problem during our stay?
You will be given contact details and
numbers for the owners or their caretakers, and we are always available to help
sort things out. We will always do our best to resolve things quickly, but we
need to know immediately if there is something wrong – we cannot resolve
problems once you have returned home, without saying anything during your stay.
We've made a booking and paid the deposit (and / or balance), but now want to cancel. Can I have my money back?
A booking is a legally binding contract, and guests cancelling a booking will lose any monies paid, subject to our terms and conditions. Cancellation insurance is strongly recommended, see Travel Insurance link at top of main page. Mevagissey Holiday Cottages takes bookings via its website, over the phone, via email requests, and from guests in person. Any person wishing to book a holiday via any of these methods acknowledges that such a booking is made subject to our terms and conditions. You may only request a booking if you agree to these terms and conditions. By requesting a booking you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions as governing your booking.
Finally, when choosing a property think carefully about your requirements; cottages in the centre of villages may be convenient for shops/pubs/restaurants, but that often means there is no garden, there may be traffic noise, or parking may be several minutes walk away. Places out of the village centre may be great for peace and tranquility, but you will have a longer walk to get milk or a newspaper. Some of the cottages are hundreds of years old, and may have low ceilings or beams which may be a problem if you are very tall. Mevagissey is perched on steep hills that drop down to the harbour, and this means properties are often approached via steps, or have several flights of stairs inside. Seagulls can be noisy, seaweed may be smelly, and your romantic spot close to the water may mean waves against the windows during a storm! I am always happy to discuss the pro’s and con’s of each property to help you choose the most suitable place for your holiday, particularly if you have any health or mobility issues, so please feel free to ring for a chat!
